A Full-Circle Moment for Universal Standard

So here’s the scoop: According to WWD, Universal Standard is about to drop a curated collection at Nordstrom, both online and in-store, available in sizes 12 through 32. This will be happening at 20 Nordstrom locations, including some big spots like the Mall of America in Minneapolis and Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The brand is also branching out to other retailers, like Anthropologie, Macy's, Wantables, and more, which means you’ll soon be able to shop their pieces at a ton of places.

What makes this even more special is that when Universal Standard first started, the brand was all about spreading the message of size-inclusive fashion, and Polina Veksler, the CEO and co-founder, literally took her mission on the road. She hosted pop-ups in Nordstrom stores, and Nordstrom was one of the only retailers willing to partner with them at that time. Now, fast forward to today, and the brand is thriving in big stores like Nordstrom with a whole new audience. Talk about a full-circle moment!

Emily Crandall, Nordstrom's Senior VP of Women's Apparel, shared her excitement about the expanded partnership. By offering more plus-size styles in stores and online, Nordstrom is making it easier for everyone to find great styles that make them feel confident and stylish. Universal Standard is helping to break down barriers in size-inclusive fashion, ensuring that all customers, regardless of size, have access to the same high-quality, luxurious essentials.

Polina Veksler echoes this sentiment: she’s thrilled about this partnership because it’s an opportunity to make great fashion accessible to more people. Universal Standard has always been on a mission to dismantle the outdated, exclusive norms in the fashion world, and this collaboration with Nordstrom is a big step in that direction.

What You’ll Find at Universal Standard

Universal Standard isn't just about any clothing—it’s about luxury essentials that you’ll wear over and over again. From denim to stylish tops, cozy sweaters, trendy trenches, and comfy T-shirts, they’ve got something for everyone. Whether you’re dressing up for a night out or keeping it casual, Universal Standard’s pieces are designed to fit well, feel great, and look amazing.

What’s Next for Universal Standard?

Although Universal Standard started out with a direct-to-consumer model, they’re now expanding into wholesale partnerships, with Nordstrom leading the charge. In 2025, they’re expecting wholesale sales to make up about 10% of their revenue, but this is just the beginning. Veksler sees wholesale as a key factor in the brand’s growth over the next couple of years. In fact, Universal Standard has already fulfilled over one million orders and achieved impressive year-over-year growth, and the future looks bright with more partnerships lined up.
