The luxury perfume brand is set for a fresh start as Interparfums SA acquires Goutal, with Amorepacific still in the picture—at least for now.

Big news in the world of luxury fragrances— according to WWD, Interparfums SA has just acquired the rights to Goutal, a well-loved perfume brand with a rich history. If you’re a fan of niche fragrances, you probably know Goutal for its classics like L’Eau d’Hadrien and Petite Chérie. Now, the brand is gearing up for an exciting new phase under Interparfums' wing.
But wait—there’s a twist. Even though Interparfums now owns Goutal, its previous owner, Amorepacific, isn’t stepping away just yet. The South Korean beauty giant will continue managing the brand under a licensing agreement for a limited period. Come 2026, though, Interparfums plans to take full control and start shaping Goutal’s future in its own vision.
For those unfamiliar with Goutal, the Paris-based brand (formerly Annick Goutal) was founded in 1981 and quickly became a go-to for fragrance lovers who appreciate artisanal scents. Over the years, it has built a reputation for unique, high-end perfumes and even opened its first boutique on Rue de Bellechasse in Paris.
Interparfums SA, on the other hand, is no stranger to the luxury fragrance game. They already manage big names like Jimmy Choo, Montblanc, Karl Lagerfeld, and Van Cleef & Arpels, so adding Goutal to their portfolio makes perfect sense. According to Philippe Benacin, CEO of Interparfums, this acquisition aligns perfectly with their goal of expanding their high-end fragrance offerings. He also confirmed that Camille Goutal, daughter of the brand’s founder, will stay involved in curating new scents, ensuring the brand’s heritage stays intact.
Financially, Interparfums is in a solid position. The company saw a 10% rise in profits in 2024, reporting a net profit of 129.9 million euros on sales of 880.5 million euros. With the addition of Goutal, they’re looking to strengthen their foothold in the niche fragrance market even further.
So, what does this all mean for Goutal fans? In the short term, things will likely stay the same while Amorepacific continues running the brand. But in the next couple of years, we might see some exciting developments as Interparfums takes the reins. Will they expand Goutal’s reach? Introduce new fragrances? Time will tell, but one thing’s for sure—this historic perfume house is entering an exciting new era.
